Consultation on Diversion of SD194

Consultation on Diversion of SD194

An application has been made by Network Rail to divert part of Public Footpath SD194, where it passes over the level crossing and to instead run it under the viaduct within the same the field. The footpath will then connect at its original point to the west.

The application has been made for reason of safety due to the current alignment’s requirement for path users to pass over a Level Crossing. The proposed route would take the footpath under the railway, therefore removing the need to use the Level Crossing.

The length of path to be diverted is shown on the attached plan by a solid black line between points A – B – C.

The proposed new route is shown by black dashes between points A – D – C.

We would like to obtain the views of anyone affected by this proposal so that an informed decision can be taken on whether to proceed.

Any comments should be made in writing to the case officer, Michael Tonkin, on the slip provided and received no later than 08 May 2026.

The response slip is attached here
